Astral Wave Cup
This design on a wheel-thrown and hand-painted cup emulates Mayon’s favorite theme: representing the water and the ocean movement on a still object.
This cup tells stories through a “marking,” an almost abstract clay engraving combined with an inlay technique. It has lots of depth and a dreamlike feeling.
A smooth Blue Celadon glazed finish all over the cup contrasts with the bottom half of the cup, unglazed but smoothly sanded for a soft touch and excellent hold.
